Kilifi Deputy Governor, Gideon Saburi on April 15th 2020, threw a Mombasa court into frenzy after testifying against state’s claims that he tested positive for corona virus.
Through his lawyers, Mr. Saburi intimated that claims of him being a Corona Virus carrier was a stunt by the Government to butcher his persona and paint him in bad light in the eyes of Kilifi people, who entrusted him leadership.
Saburi’s lawyers alleged that the DG never tested positive for corona virus at any given time. The lawyers reportedly presented samples of Covid-19 tests in Court to prove beyond reasonable doubt that indeed Saburi was as clean as a mallow in matters Corona Virus.
It was alleged that Saburi picked the deadly virus abroad where he had gone for a visit. He is said to have jetted back into the country and resuming his normal business without self-quarantining as advised by the state.
In a heartbreaking plot, Saburi was placed at the center of Corona Virus outbreak in Kilifi County and was accused of being a hotspot for the deadly virus. State promised to charge Saburi with attempted murder for refusing to isolate and self-quarantine.
With the new submissions from Saburi’s team, the Government is now tasked to prove beyond reasonable doubt that indeed Saburi harbored the virus at a given period, and whether or not he spread it to unsuspecting citizens.
