Reggae Stops as Ngong Hills Park Management Bans Alcoholic Drinks, Picnics

Amid claims of risky sexual behavior, irresponsible alcohol use and suspicious picnic parties at Ngong Hills Recreational Center, the Kenya Forest Service has suspended public gatherings in the park until further notice.

According to the KFS management, parties and poor adherence to social distancing guidelines in the park for merry makers was posing a threat to the general public given the rising number of Covid-19 infections in the country.

In the same light, the Ngong Hills management has banned alcoholic drinks from the premises stressing social responsibility. “Please note that no alcoholic drinks are allowed in the park and strictly observe social distance at all times while in the park,” read a notice from the destination.

Recently, Ngong Hills was identified as one of the areas notorious for weekend parties, a move that could prove counter Kenya’ standing measures to curb the spread COVID-19. The Ngong hills puzzle was reported to be conjoined by careless young adults who fancy parties despite the glaring danger posed by Corona Virus.

In early May, residents of Milimani, Ngong area, went public after allegedly collecting over 100 used condoms left by revelers. The residents decried loud music emanating from the park at night.

KFS has put down measures to have revelers out of the park by latest 5 pm.
