Two quarantine escapees were on Wednesday April 22nd arrested at a bar in Nairobi’s Roysambu area after a successful tip off from the area’s Nyumba kumi officials.
It’s reported that the two unidentified individuals, were among a group of 50 individuals who ran away from the facility following a security hitch due to heavy rains.
According to credible reports, the two defended their break free decision saying that they had been held at the facility for 72 hours but no Covid-19 test had been carried on them. To add salt to an injury, the two claimed that they were told to part with a whooping sh. 2000 a day for the period they were to be quarantined at the facility.
Further the escapees admitted to have been arrested and forcefully quarantined after being caught red handed in a club merry making. They also distanced themselves from the claim that they had greased the security officers to be let off the facility.
On his daily Covid-19 briefs, CS Mutahi Kagwe noted with great concern the irresponsibility displayed by the individuals who broke free from KMTC. He opined that such people could pose a risk to the rest of the community as they might be infected and could decentralize the virus to law abiding citizens.
The two will be forced into mandatory quarantine to complete their time at the facilities on own cost.
