Samburu dairy farmers will no longer have to worry about lack of market for their product; this is after Samburu Dairy Farmers cooperative commissioned a milk plant worth 36million.
The plant has a processing capacity of 2000 liters per hour. This is set to increase milk processing in the country from17 million annually to 18 million annually according to previous years.
“Samburu Fresh Milk has already hit the market and we have now joined the league of milk producers. This is historic because we have never witnessed milk being processed here in our region,” said Mr. Julius Lalampaa, who is the chairperson of the cooperative.
The plant will sell its own branded milk labeled as ‘Samburu Fresh Milk’. It also becomes the first milk plant in the county based in Maralal.
