Business communication is the process of sharing information between people within and outside a company. The survey aimed at establishing business communication with their respective audiences i.e., customers in terms of livestreaming and social media.

Other than the government regulations on health and safety measures related to the pandemic, some of the changes that businesses adopted to in terms of business communication was switching to virtual meetings, taking their operations online i.e., selling and marketing of products and services. In order to achieve this, there was need for businesses to embrace digital marketing i.e., livestreaming and social media.

Live streaming has gained newfound relevance amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Viewership has grown across several platforms and new features are being introduced, expanding opportunities for marketers and creators within this space.

It has become a prominent feature on social networks and video sites, but usage still lags compared with other forms of video. Despite this, a good number of businesses have already embraced this aspect ahead of the rest. Livestreaming has been projected to be the next technological trend.

On the other hand, social media is a powerful form of business communication that has transformed the way in which exchange of information takes place. Currently, social media has no competitor when it comes to business communication. Its reach, power and presence are unlike any and this is why brands are utilizing social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter etc. The future of social media is bright and it’s the perfect place to build conversations with clients and customers, so they feel connected to the business.

Based on the above, a team of well-trained research team conducted a business communication needs cross sectional survey in 8 counties across Kenya from 10th June to 3rd July. The findings from the survey will help businesses embrace live streaming and social media aggressively, especially in their fields of marketing and selling of their products/ services.
