Five people were on Tuesday evening killed in a fatal road crash along the Nyeri-Nanyuki road.
A private car collided with a truck killing its five occupants near Narumoru town at around 7pm on Tuesday. Findings showed that the driver of the car appeared to have been trying to overtake another vehicle before the accident.
Footage obtained by Citizen TV showed what remained of the ill-fated car; a badly mangled wreckage with its front part torn off from the impact.
Police officers are investigating the circumstances that led to the deadly crash as attempts to locate the driver of the truck intensify.
The driver of the truck went missing shortly after and had not been seen since.
Bodies of the deceased were taken to the Nyeri County Referral Hospital mortuary while the wreckage of the two vehicle were towed to Narumoru police station.
