The state has issued three more stringent directives to be adhered to as the Corona Virus infections hit 50 in the country.
In a press conference held on March 30th, 2020, Health CS, Mutahi Kagwe directed that going forward, Boda Boda riders were required to carry one passenger at a time and that both of them must wear masks to be provided by the state during the trip.
“Boda Boda riders will be required to protect themselves and carry one passenger to maintain social distance. The rider and the passenger must wear masks for protection. We will distribute masks in all counties,” said Mr. Kagwe.
Further, he besieged employers to release employees by 4 pm so that they are able to beat the dusk to dawn curfew with little to zero inconvenience. This he said could enable employees to make travel arrangements on time.
In addition to that, the now-famous CS urged Nairobians to desist from traveling upcountry as a measure to avoid decentralizing the virus to rural, marginalized regions. This he said would protect the elderly who are vulnerable to the virus.

Prior to the infamous Kenyan assumption that most of the Coronavirus infections were imported, Bwana Kagwe broke the ill-informed bubble saying the new infections were spread through community transmission.
“The virus is now being spread through community transmission. It’s no longer imported,” said the CS.
